New Members

We are always looking for new members – local people who enjoy being part of a  friendly community and who are interested in taking up lawn bowls.  You might never have played bowls before – it doesn’t matter, we can teach you.  Or you may be an experienced bowler looking to join our local club.  Whatever your skill level, you will be welcomed with open arms!

Open Days

If you are keen to start a new interest or do something new, or make new friends whilst keeping fit, then come along and try your hand at playing lawn bowls.  We will show you how to play, using our Club’s bowls.

And it’s absolutely free! All we ask is that you wear flat shoes so as not to damage the green.

In 2024 our Open Day will take place on Sunday 12 May.    Come along at any time between 10.00 am and 4.00 pm – there’s no need to book.  Our most experienced players will teach you the basics of how to play.  You will definitely have a chance to bowl on our six-rink green and be coached as you play. If you cannot make this date, give us a ring or text and we will come up with another date to suit.

Introductory Offer

For those who join the Club and have not bowled before, there is a special introductory offer of £35 for their first year’s subscription.  See our Subscriptions page.

Here is what a recent joiner said about joining the Club:

“I missed the Open Day, but I wandered up to the Club and asked whether I could give it a go.  I’d never played bowls before in my life!  One of the best bowlers in the Club invited me along the next day for a one-to-one practice.  He explained the basic rules and how to bowl.  He was incredibly patient and helpful.  I just enjoyed bowling the woods he lent me.

“There was a special cheap rate for newcomers, so I decided to join the Club straightaway.  When I went along to my first roll-up, I was introduced to the other players – they could not have been more welcoming.  Everybody tried to help me fit in and learn a few tricks.  I now play regularly and love it!”

Getting to know the Rules

We have produced a helpful Bowls Guide for our members which can be downloaded below.   This summarises the Laws of the game in a user-friendly way.  If you would like to read the full Laws of the game, you can find these on the Bowls England website (see our Links page).
